Top NZV8 racing team John McIntyre Racing launched a new look for their V8 Ford for their fifth season in New Zealand's premier racing championship.
The striking black, white and green livery was revealed for the first time at this weekend’s Speedshow in Auckland as the two-time NZV8 championship-winning team confirms a number of new sponsors.
“It’s the most striking livery in our five year history,” says driver John McIntyre. “One of the great things about our sponsor family this season is that several companies have complementing colours and this helped us create a really cohesive look. The black, white and green colours are really strong and our race-winning car certainly won’t be missed by V8 fans and competitors this season!”

Christchurch driver Eddie Bell capped a great season when he scored a podium result at the recent ITM 400 in Hamilton. Bell showed his skill on the difficult and demanding 3.4 kilometre Hamilton Street circuit as he motored to a trio of top placings - fifth, third and fourth - placing him 3rd overall for the weekend. "It was my first ever street race," said Eddie as he looked back on another superb weekend. "With only time for thirteen laps in practice I qualified inside the top six. I wish I'd had more time because I don't think I got the best out of the green tyres. I got bad starts in every race too," he said. "The last two rounds in the championship I had very bad luck and that affected our championship position. Hamilton means we finish the season on a better note." |

Whakatane driver Christina Orr not only enjoyed her weekend of racing at the ITM400 in Hamilton over the weekend but came away with her best result for the season and a car with less damage than usual.
On a street circuit which ate many a race car over the weekend, Orr's smooth driving style kept the Holden Commodore off the walls and on-track to earning her some creditable results and 14th overall in the BNTV8s at the weekend.
"The weekend was great, we had lots of fun, we came away with a straight car and the best result this season, the only damage we had was from where I hit the tyre at the chicane with my spoiler and that was two laps before the end of the last race." she said.

Aucklander Tim Edgell wrapped up his breakthrough season in the BNT V8s with another pair of milestones at the ITM 400 in Hamilton last weekend.
Persistent braking issues dogged the young star and his Chesters Falcon throughout the weekend but pole position and a new lap record for the daunting 3.4 kilometre Hamilton street circuit against the might of the V8 competitors showed just what may have been achieved given a troublefree run.
Tim arrived in Hamilton after a championship season that had seen him finish fourth overall. During the season he had recorded several personal bests including his first pole position, first race win and a lap record at Taupo.
Edgell continued that good form when proceedings got underway at Hamilton on Friday. He set the quickest time in qualifying with a lap of 1 minute 31.3449, .2857 of a second quicker than Kayne Scott who was in turn followed by other class heavyweights John McIntyre and Angus Fogg.

It took the grandest and most colourful event of the year for Cambridge driver Nick Ross to claim his strongest result of the season in the BNTV8s driving the Total Lubricants Concept Motorsport Commodore. Three top 10 finishes from three races at the ITM 400 V8 Supercars street race in Hamilton gave Ross and the team the results they have been aiming for throughout the year, knowing they could compete at the front of the pack but unable to display their full potential until now. Although struggling for a quick lap in qualifying Ross made a fabulous comeback placing ninth in race one, seventh in race two and sixth in the final on Sunday afternoon. The impressive results earning him sixth overall in the BNTV8s support class at the ITM 400 achieving results the team has been looking for. |
